Nvidia achieves new breakthroughs in AI, memory demand is expected to boost

1. Nvidia releases DGX GH200 supercomputer

According to IT Home, Nvidia announced on the 29th that the Grace Hopper super chip has been fully put into production. These chips are core components of Nvidia’s new DGX GH200 artificial intelligence supercomputing platform and MGX system, which are designed to handle massive generative artificial intelligence tasks.

The Grace Hopper super chip is an Arm architecture-based CPU+GPU integration solution developed by Nvidia. It integrates a 72-core Grace CPU, Hopper GPU, 96GB of HBM3 and 512 GB of LPDDR5X in the same package, with a total of 200 billion transistors. This combination provides up to 1 TB/s of data bandwidth between the CPU and GPU, providing a huge advantage for certain memory-constrained workloads.

2. Nvidia will account for 60% of the AI product market this year

According to TechWeb citing foreign media reports, investment bank JPMorgan Chase believes that with hardware products such as GPU and network products, Nvidia will occupy as much as 60% of the AI product market this year. Generative AI such as ChatGPT has boosted the demand for high-performance GPUs such as Nvidia H100, A100, H800 and A800, making Nvidia one of the biggest winners in this transformation.

Nvidia’s revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2024 fell 13% year-on-year to $7.19 billion. However, during the same period, data center business revenue reached a record US$4.28 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14%, accounting for 60% of revenue; game business revenue was US$2.24 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 38%, accounting for 31% of revenue.

Nvidia is a leader in the field of AI, accounting for about 80% of the AI processor market, and its high-end processors have been used to train and run various chatbots. The company is favored by investors and is considered a key supplier to meet the demand for AI computing power.

3. Industry: Memory prices may bottom out in June, AI demand needs to be observed

According to the Financial Associated Press on the 29th, many manufacturers and market analysts recently said that June may be the lowest price of memory chips in the whole year. With the gradual release of the effect of “destocking” measures, the sales price of memory chips is expected to rebound in the future.

As for the recent surge in demand for AI, the impact on the storage industry is limited. Enterprises such as Longsys and BIWIN all told reporters from the Financial Associated Press that AI has not yet had a direct impact on business.

4. The iPhone 15 is about to be mass-produced, and Foxconn has paid a lot of money to recruit people

According to KuaiTech, a new generation of iPhones is usually released every month. For this reason, Foxconn’s Zhengzhou factory, the world’s largest iPhone production area, is also speeding up its recruitment process and enjoys a bonus of up to 3,500 yuan.

According to the Zhengzhou Foxconn iDPBG business group, starting from May 29th, employee recruitment bonuses will be increased, with a maximum bonus of 3,500 yuan per person, of which the rebate bonus for job seekers in key positions in the manufacturing sector will be 2,500 to 3,000 yuan, and the introducer bonus will be 500 yuan. Previously, the recruitment bonus from May 22 to 28 was up to 3,000 yuan per person. In terms of hourly workers, the hourly wages will increase by 2 yuan starting from May 29, up to a maximum of 22 yuan per hour.
