Against the downward cycle, this local car core semiconductor manufacturer has outstanding performance

1. Wingtech Technology’s performance in the first half of the year increased, and Nexperia Semiconductor’s performance was outstanding

On August 26, Wingtech Technology announced its semi-annual financial report for 2023. The operating income was 29.206 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.49%, and the net profit attributable to the parent was 1.258 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.45%. Wingtech Technology’s semiconductor business (Anshi Semiconductor) still performed brilliantly in the overall downturn of the industry, achieving revenue of 7.639 billion yuan, net profit of 1.388 billion yuan, business gross profit margin of 41.3%, and R&D investment of 809 million yuan.

In the revenue structure of Nexperia in the first half of the year, automobiles accounted for 61.05%, and industrial and electric power accounted for 24.6%. In the first half of the year, Nexperia launched new products such as 600V single-tube IGBT series products and enhancement mode GaN FETs for low/high voltage applications. The two self-owned fabs located in Hamburg, Germany and Manchester, UK are continuing to expand production.

2. Product prices are under pressure, GigaDevice’s revenue decreased by nearly 38% year-on-year

3. Facing the opportunity of AI, UMC and ASE rushed into the CoWoS supply chain

According to China Taiwan Business Times, Nvidia is actively building a non-TSMC supply chain in order to relieve the pressure on CoWoS packaging production capacity. Among them, UMC and ASE play an important role. The two major semiconductor factories have joined hands to grab the production capacity of CoWoS, and the market is optimistic about the rapid growth of business opportunities in the future.

Nvidia’s financial report performance exceeded external expectations, and it predicted that the current AI chip inventory is only 3.2 months. In addition to showing that the downstream demand is indeed quite strong and the inventory level is low, it also shows that the current CoWoS capacity supply shortage has affected AI-related chips. Production capacity cannot be effectively and substantially increased.

4. TSMC 3nm is expected to usher in a big order for Intel processors

According to the Taiwan Electronics Times quoted by the Science and Technology Board Daily, it is currently reported that the Intel Arrow Lake processor, which will be available in the second half of 2024, is undergoing blueprint revisions, and it is tentatively scheduled to have dual versions in parallel.

In addition to CPUs such as the U series, which will skip the Intel 20A process and change to Intel 3, the top H/HX series CPUs will use TSMC’s N3 process for foundry, superimposing graphics chips, system chips, and I/O chips that were originally delivered to TSMC.
